Hemp Nettle (Galeopsis Tetrahit L.)
68
This barely explored herb is native to Europe and Asia. It is rare to find, because it is Pioneer plant (grows in soil that has no previous ecosystem at all).
You can find the herb only in broken soil like rocks, excavations, dig sites and other, that has piles of soil with barely or no life at all. Grows no more than 2 feet.
Its leaves look like that of a mint, but are bigger. The blossoms look like a snapdragon blossoms, but are more often purple (snapdragon species have more diversity in colors).
Uses of the herb
The common hemp nettle is very potent for cough, breathlessness, bronchitis and is also good against anaemia. It stimulates production of more red blood cells from the bone marrow.
Gather
the sprouts of the blooming plant between July and September and dry them in shadow (hang the sprouts in a string). When dry, the herb has no aroma and keeps the green color. The dried blossoms are white or pink and are easy to crush.
Decoction
For one day dose - Crush or dice the dried sprout then put 2 tablespoons of it in an infuser and boil in one pint of water (~1/2 liter).
Let it cool and store in a bottle.
Drink a wine glass of the decoction before every meal.
